Former Dean (Academic) & Head of the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh;

Dr Rajesh Kumar has served as Professor and Head in Community Medicine and School of Public Health and Dean (Academics) at PGIMER, Chandigarh. Over 35 years of his professional life is enriched with experience on health system research, planning and management of public health programs as well as capacity building of public health workforce through teaching. His primary areas of research include public health surveillance and disease burden estimation. He has published over 460 research papers in leading scientific journals. He has been engaged with several institutions in different capacities; like Professorial Fellow in School of Public Health & Community Medicine, UNSW; Technical Advisor at HSTP, New Delhi; Honorary Professor at LSHTM; Executive Director at SHSRC, Gov. of Punjab; Emeritus Scientist at ICMR, New Delhi and Advisor at WHO.
