The SRCMF works closely with countries of the SEA Region and the partners to achieve elimination of Malaria, Tuberculosis and Human Immunodeficiency virus in the SEA Region and ensure sustainability, and prevention of reintroduction of diseases
Irrespective of whether these diseases occur in countries or along international borders, the SRMCF mobilises financial and political support to eliminate these diseases and to strengthen health systems in the border districts including community system strengthening.
As a regional support system, SRCMF can save lives and protect people from these health threats.
Given the substantial role of cross-border activities in the SEA Region, achieving disease elimination can enhance each country’s regional efforts and improve global health security.
In this context, SRCMF promotes cross-border malaria, TB and HIV elimination as a regional good and an excellent investment case, as national disease elimination in many countries will not be possible without addressing it at the border areas.
To accomplish this mission, SRCMF helps in advocacy, mobilising political commitment, and in bringing countries and their support systems together such that in the process the countries support each other in achieving their respective national goals o.f disease elimination.
SRCMF envisages to facilitate Joint planning and implementation of programme activities and synchronised treatment and prevention policies on both sides of the border and follow-up to prevent transmission of malaria, TB and HIV.
As a regional co-ordinating body for the Global Fund related activities in the South-East Asia region, SRCMF keeps countries informed on the timing and outcome of country and regional proposals on Malaria, TB, and HIV as well as those relating to district health system strengthening including at border areas.
SRCMF acts as a catalyst in promoting and facilitating inter-country collaboration for disease elimination efforts across international borders including establishment of migrant population screening facilities with symptoms at international border crossing points.
It promotes strengthening of disease and vector surveillance at the border areas and ensures sharing of these data and information among countries having borders with each other, on regular and seamless manner.
It documents and disseminates innovative approaches, best practices and mechanisms being implemented in countries for cross-border disease elimination.
In collaboration with countries and partners in the Region, SRCMF will act to protect health and security of populations across borders through capacity building, fostering regional cooperation and solidarity, monitoring and evaluation of cross-border activities, to ensure sustainability of disease elimination endeavours.
