Dr OlaviElo’s early career in his home country Finland culminated in position as DG Department of Public Health at the National Health Directorate. The next service in WHO included positions such as Chief of Emergency Preparedness at HQ and WR in India, interrupted by four years as Director IDNDR at UNDHA, and ended as Director of Country and Regional Programmes at UNAIDS HQ. The recent years include continuous consultancies or short-term assignments, including evaluations and strategic planning in Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal and the SEA Region, as well as in several countries in Asia, Europe and Africa, and most recently several years’support to SRCMF.
