Summary Bio
Dr. Rajiv Tandon is a leading public health and nutrition expert and advocate in India, with over 40 years of active
developmental and medical experience across a range of public health issues. Along with his training and clinical
practice as a Paediatrician and Neonatologist for over two decades, he has led and shaped many civil society
organisations and donors, large global, regional, and national programs and advocacy initiatives in the public health
and social development space.
Dr. Tandon has extensive experience and expertise on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (RMNCH),
Agriculture-Food and Nutrition Security, Neglected Tropical Diseases and Malaria (NTD&M), Vaccines and Health
Technologies, and Health Systems Reforms. He has conceptualised, coordinated and participated within diverse,
multi-stakeholder platforms and fora to push the policy and programmatic agendas, including the Coalition for
Sustainable Nutrition Security in India, the Partnership for Maternal Newborn Child Health (PMNCH), the RMNCH+A
Coalition, Neglected Tropic Diseases Coalition, Covid Catalytic Partnership, Parliamentarians for Malaria Elimination,
Acute Encephalitis Syndrome TAG, South Asia Regional Coordinating Mechanism of the Global Fund, etc., leading to
health policy reforms.
Dr. Tandon has been closely associated with and has advised various global academic institutions on key initiatives,
such as Harvard School of Public Health (Better Birth study), Stanford Center for International Development (Stanford
India Health Policy Initiative), McGill Centre for the Convergence of Health and Economics (Whole of Society
Convergent Innovation Platform), Washington University (Local Contextualised RUTF), KLE University (Maternal
Newborn Registry and Postpartum Hemorrhage). He has been in the senior leadership of various civil society
organisations and public health communities from global to national levels, actively growing them and facilitating
greater technical rigour and quality, for equitable and sustainable impact. He has been the author of various scientific,
peer-reviewed publications and has been recognised for this contributions to the field.
